Taconic Straight Bourbon Whiskey

As I go deeper into the world of bourbon and explore all that it has for me, my latest travels have introduced me to Taconic Distillery. Based in Hudson Valley, New York, Taconic is producing bourbon the right way; Slow and unapologetic. As small craft distilleries are becoming more and more popular throughout our nation, distilleries set themselves apart on quality of ingredients, distilling and aging process. Invariable whiskey will take on the characteristics of the area that it is from. Never having been to the Hudson Valley, I can only imagine that what I’m tasting when sipping Taconic is a crisp fall day or a hot summer night. Taconic can go head to head with many Kentucky bourbons and out do quite a few.

I had the pleasure of trying Taconic’s Dutchess Private Reserve, which did not disappoint and earned an 86 in Jim Murray’s Whisky Bible.

While Taconic is still expanding its reach onto more shelves and into more states, this is a whiskey that you’ll find yourself reaching for over and over again. Not only is it a daily pour, but a whiskey that will impress your friends.

Till next time
